That’s important to us, because the entire Quantum workforce is committed to being the storage industry’s reliability leader.  We push the details at every step to ensure the most effective design integrity, consistency, and dependability.
Simply put, reliability drives everything we do, 24 hours a day.
And because customers for personal computers, workstations, high-end computers, network servers, and disk arrays consider reliability the most important quality in storage, you can count Quantum as one of your ongoing competitive advantages.
In addition, our broad selection of storage products gives you the choices, features, and performance to deliver innovative storage solutions in each of your products.

Our four product categories:

  • Hard disk drives available in 3.5-inch and 5.25-inch form factors, with storage capacities ranging from 3 gigabytes to more than 36 gigabytes.
  • Two series of high-performance, lightning-fast Solid State Disks (SSD’s).
  • Two models of large-capacity, DLTtape media cartridges with up to 35 gigabytes of native capacity.

Each of these product lines is the result of customer-driven innovations matched to precise performance requirements at the most demanded capacity points. And because they are from Quantum, they deliver the reliability your customers want.

With the amazing popularity and growth of the Internet over the last few years, the demand for low-cost PC’s has exploded. In meeting the needs of this market, the challenge for systems integrators and value-added resellers is to cut costs without cutting quality. When it comes to data storage, one disk drive satisfies this market perfectly - the Quantum Fireball CR hard disk drive.

A strong addition to the award-winning Fireball legacy, the Quantum Fireball CR drive offers performance, capacity, reliability, and value for all home, home office, and small-to large-business applications. Featuring a 5,400 RPM spindle speed, 9.5 milliseconds (ms) seek time,194 megabyte per-second (Mb/sec) maximum internal date rate, and leading-edge Ultra ATA 66 interface, the Fireball CR drive delivers the fast data access and throughput needed for any home or business application. And, with 4.3 to 13.0 gigabyte (GB) of storage, the Fireball CR disk drive covers the most popular capacity points.

Even better, all the information that users store on their Fireball CR drives will be protected by two Quantum-developed data protection technologies. First, in the event their PC system fails, the new Quantum Data Protection System (DPS) lets users verify all vital drive functions in 90 seconds or less. This quickly and easily eliminates the drive as the source of the problem and lets and lets users avoid risking their data with an unnecessary return. Second, Quantum’s exclusive Shock Protection System (SPS) protects against a leading cause of hard disk drive failures – trauma during handling and integration.

Together, these systems provide unsurpassed peace of mind for consumers and systems integrators alike. Add to that the solid backing of a full three- year warranty, and the Fireball CR drive easily represents a new standard of reliability in data storage for mainstream computers.

There’s a wide range of computation-intensive applications that demand increasingly higher performance, storage capacity, and reliability. The Fireball Plus KA hard disk drive was built for these applications, including graphics-intensive desktop publishing, complex CAD/CAM, MMX multimedia, DVD, and sophisticated financial modeling.

True to the award-winning Fireball legacy for speed and capacity, the Fireball Plus KA brings workstation performance to the desktop. Equally important, the Fireball Plus KA provides an unprecedented level of data security and reliability by integrating two breakthroughs, Quantum0-pioneerd data protection technologies.

The Quantum Fireball Plus KA is the first hard disk drive to feature the revolutionary Quantum Data Protection System. In the event of a system failure, this advanced technology lets users quickly and easily test and verify drive functionality in less than 90 seconds. Second, the Quantum Fireball Plus KA has Quantum’s exclusive Shock Protection System
(SPS), which protects against a leading cause of hard disk drive failures – trauma during handling and integration. Together these systems help eliminate the major causes of disk drive returns and give customers a new level of confidence.

For lightning-fast response, the Quantum Fireball Plus KA has a 7.200 RPM rotational speed, 8.5 milliseconds (ms) average seek time, and 235 megabit-per second (Mb/sec) internal transfer rate. For maximum throughput, the Fireball Plus KA also features the new Quantum-developed (patent pending) Ultra ATA/66 interface that transfers up to 66 megabytes per second. Combined with the available capacities of 6.4 gigabytes (GB), 9.1 GB, 13.6 GB, and 18.2 GB, the Fireball Plus KA offers customers an ideal balance of reliability, performance, and capacity. Add to all that a full three-year warranty and you have the perfect drive for all high-performance desktop applications.

Quantum’s Atlas™ III hard disk drive is the perfect choice for enterprise servers and RAID subsystems. The drive sets a new standard of excellence in capacity, performance, and reliability. With capacities of 9.1 gigabytes (GB) and 18.2 GB, the new-generation Atlas III drives now offer double the storage capacity at the high end. In fact, advanced magneto resistive heads increase the formatted capacities of Atlas III drives to an amazing 1,820 megabytes (MB) per disk. Along with greater capacity, we also have increased performance. Atlas III drives features a high-performance, dual-microprocessor architecture; 7,200 RPM spindle speed; 7,8 millisecond (ms) seek time; and an average sustained transfer rate of 12 MB per second.

Furthermore for maximum throughput of large block transfers used in imaging and video applications, Atlas III drives also have a large 1 MB cache buffer.

To handle the increased throughput, Atlas III drives now come with even larger pipelines. Choose an Ultra SE SCSI with a 50-pin narrow connector or an advanced Ultra2 SCSI/SE with either a 68-pin or 80-pin SCA-2 connector that maintains signal integrity and bus timing for up to 15 drives over a distance of 12 meters.

To ensure data integrity, all Atlas III drives come with 352-bit Red Solomon double-burst ECC and S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) Revision 2 support. Atlas III drives also feature hardware XOR, which automatically detects and corrects errors and defects in the data stream. This advanced technology is vital in mission-critical applications, such as RAID 5, where uptime and accuracy are essential. In addition our highly automated manufacturing process gives Quantum Atlas III drives the highest reliability in their class. We stand confidently behind each drive with a five-year warranty. All of these are good reasons why Quantum is synonymous with quality.
