This be-seen-at restaurant continues to play to full houses with professional duo Jaco Welgemoed and Ian Mills in the spot light, backed by James Nkwagtsa and Bradley Gray in the kitchen, it has to be a hit. Décor is as warm as the welcome apricot walls bright with naïve pop art vegetables, wrought iron chandeliers of inter-twined fig leaves, simple table settings. The menu changes often with the menu chalked on the block-board. Specialties like Duck, Oxtail, Quails and Salmon are constant through they change in dress. This in no way fazes the waiters, who run through the list with aplomb. Still hunger pangs with chunks of warm bread dipped in herb-flavored olive oil, as you’re led through the choices: clam chowder, mussels in orange and fennel, mille feuille of blue and cream cheese with cognac, duck parcelled in phyllo pastry. Norwegian Salmon is served with, ginger and oriental sauce, meaty oxtail, simmered in whiskey and wine. Don’t forget the signature Singing Fig ice cream.
