Solar Panel
Sun command is proud to introduce the Sun
command solar panel specifically designed for heating swimming pools.
Enjoy your pool
It is a fact that most swimming pools in
South Africa are used for less that 4-5 months in a year, and even in
those months they are seldom used by grown ups.
Why? Because pools are simply too cold to enjoy. That is why, pool heating
has become so popular. With the properly sized Pool heating system the
season is not only double but the temperatures achieved are truly enjoyable.
Heated & unheated pool temperatures
In average climatic conditions the general
temperature rise anticipated from an unheated swimming pool is 8 °C.
This would be acceptable in most swimming applications where the level
for swimming would be in the region of 27°C the temperature rise
can be increase, if required, by the oversizing of heating system accordingly.
Collector structure
Sun commands solar pool panels compromise
a polypropylene collector surface flat on top & bottom surfaces,
with °± 215 individual capillary tubes incorporated between
the outer sheets, the collector is fitted with a manifold header and
Footer to allow easy flow of water through the collector. The panel
has proven to be durable and to to offer good efficiencies at low DT's
as experienced in pool heating applications. The panel is suitably designed
for unglazed ambient conditions, and is suitably ultra Violet (UV) stabilized,
with a life expectancy up to 15 years.
Pool Covers
With any form of pool heating it is advisable
to have heating is advisable to have a heat retention cover on the pool,
as most of the heat loss is from the pool's surface. On some pools,
however covers are simply not practical and so it is necessary to oversize
the heating system. Sun command has a full range of accessories and
roll-up stations for easy handling of the covers.
Cool days become critical as heat loss
is accelerated, and continuous throughout the night when no natural
heat loss source is present, and normally when swimming pool water is
at a temperature above that of the surrounding ambient air and at the
same time the performance of any solar panel drops off significantly.
Warranty
Sun Command panels come with a
full 5 year warranty.
How does a Solar Panel Work
A Sun Command solar panel is an
extremely efficient collector of irradiated energy from the Sun & by
design collects and transfers this energy, collected from its surface,
to the swimming pool water which is being pumped through the solar
panel, which in turn raises the temperature of the swimming pool water.
Water passing through the panel's is of high volume producing a small dT
rise during each pass and is only in circuit during normal daylight
hours.
Sun Command solar panels are
designed specifically for the swimming pool heating market and can
result in doubling the use of an existing un-heated swimming pool.
Running Costs
As the Sonnenkraft solar panels are only
engaged in circuit for approximately 8 hours on any given day, and
utilize the same pump as is used for the filtration circuit, there is no
additional running costs as the swimming pool pump is merely re-timed to
operate the filtration circuit during daylight, or Solar Gain, hours.
Made to last
Sun Command solar panels are made
to last:
Each panel comes, as standard, with
individual connectors to inter-connect between panels.
each panel is manufactured from UV
treated Polypropylene designed to withstand the harshest conditions,
including Hail stones & extreme changes in ambient air temperatures
between daytime & nighttime periods.
Sizing
Sun Command solar panels come in three
sizes as detailed below.
Panel Requirements
The pool surface size (in m²) and the
number of panels required are based on attaining an 8°C rise above
existing swimming pool temperatures. If additional temperature
rises are required then oversizing of the system is recommended.
Installation
Sun Command supplies the complete
installation kit which is inclusive of all Solar Panels, Solar Covers,
and all fittings valves etc. for a complete installation. The only
excluded item is piping required to run from the pool filtration system
to where the solar system is installed. Included is full
installation instructions & diagrams etc.
